哥哥在一场事故中意外死亡，远在外地的妹妹玛利亚回到家乡。难过之余还要照顾大嫂和沉默寡言的母亲，加上哥哥承包的农场因为资金不足将被收回，这让玛利亚感到心力交瘁。为哥哥送行时，玛利亚认识了基里诺。基里诺一直想将自己的业余队伍发展成为唱诗班，而玛利亚对音乐颇有造诣，多番交流之下，玛利亚决定帮助基里诺训练这支并不成熟的队伍。基里诺也找来了更多人加入唱诗班，在玛利亚的帮助下，唱诗班的水平有了质的飞跃。在此期间，玛利亚跟负责照顾母亲的医生托马斯产生感情，二人迅速交往。很快，唱诗班迎来了一次向公众表演的机会。教堂答应给他们提供场地。所有人精心准备，歌声飘荡在了教堂的每个角落，他们终于成功了。。Siren Phillips has lived her life thinking she's an ordinary girl, in an ordinary town.
